Having received quite a few unsolicited comments from anonymous persons on my write-ups, I have been wondering off-late, whether there exists a valid reason for a person to not reveal himselves/herselves and yet take the liberty to comment. And I could not find any real positive reasons. Either the person is cowardly enough to not reveal the identity, or there is a childish, immature expectation or fear in them, of me responding/reacting to the comments. Or, worst case scenario, both.
A common notion nowadays is that anonymity gives one the licence to misuse the freedom of speech and expression, and get away with saying anything under the sun, using the ability to comment as an excuse. This in fact, all the more reveals one's stupidity, and in most cases, the desperate attempts towards anonymity actually ends up revealing the person, and being oblivious to this fact is just another excuse.
There are better thing to do in this world, using anonymity as a tool of modesty (Not false!) and yet we come across fools in the society who call themselves mavericks in what they do, not realizing that even being a maverick needs a distinctive character, which, as per above quote, is apparently missing.
So does this mean that negative comments are unwelcome in a blog? The obvious answer is no - each and every individual is entitled to his/her own opinion on all the things I mention - and it may range from 'what' I write to the way I write. And there is a way to express your disagreement, and the foremost thing I expect is, to mention your identity.
The logic here is simple - if you know who you are talking to, the disagreement can lead to either a healthy debate or complete silence, by choice, from both sides. But if the person chooses to stay anonymous and pass stupid/lewd comments, then there is zero interest generated, and none of these comments are looked into, beyond the 'delete' button.
So I urge all the bloggers reading my blog, tell me who you are before telling me your side of the story!!!!
