WHAT IS DESIGN ?

Now, design is a small yet big word, was what I learnt in my five years of architecture. I would like to define design as the ability to perceive. God created nature -that was his perception of beauty combined with life. And he created the five elements to support it. Those were his elements of design (Maybe you can call it his professional skill).

An architect's perception about buildings of various purposes is HIS design. I feel that it is quite wrong to attribute design to only those who deal with art directly. I feel that every human being, be it educated or not, professional or not, deals with design atleast once in his/her lifetime.

Elements of design exist in every creature's lifespan and some go to the extent of "forming" design even after their death. (Example? Look at corals and your fingernails!!!) Enumerating elements of design is impossible as we can find design in every element around us.

Design has been also used to give and take lives. (Look at the design of pacemakers installed in hearts and also the design of the most popular Gun - the AK-47)

Design has been used to make "life" easy and difficult. ( Look at the design of your commonly used washing machine and the design of various elements of torture!)

Now lets define what's design.
